Jim's House History

Pete Crevier, Jim's Dad

“
In July of 1997, our son Jim was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's (ALS) Disease.  He was 38 years old at the time, and living in Williston, Vermont.

Realizing he eventually would be confined to a wheelchair, which would not be compatible with the space restrictions of his mobile home, he undertook the design and construction of a new house.  Jim designed his own house on his computer so it would be accessible and comfortable for his future  needs.

With the help of his close friend, Art Goodwin, myself, and a number of other good friends, he was able to live in his new home for a year and a half, until January of 2001 when he left us to be with Our Lord and Creator.”

Jim's legacy . . . is to help others in need

“Jim knew what he was going through and what other people would be going through, with any neurological disease, and his sympathies were with them.  Jim felt that building this house and making it available for others in need - that, was the only way he probably could help.”

Purpose

Jim drafted a Will directing us to place his new house into a Trust.  This Trust makes the house available for people with Neurological Diseases, including ALS,  and their care providers coming to Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vermont from such a distance as to require an overnight stay.

Jim's House rests on over 4 acres of beautifully landscaped yard. The accommodations of Jim's House include a living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, and a continental breakfast, all available without charge.  To view the interior, please click on photos.

Jim's House is fully handicap accessible and includes a shower large enough to accommodate a wheelchair.
